I think this may be a regression. I installed 16.04.1 a few weeks ago
and it was working fine (dnsmasq worked after resume). I now have a 100%
repro of the bug.
Workaround: sudo pkill dnsmasq
I'm now running 16.04.2 (64-bit). I'm using a Dell XPS laptop. CPU is an
Intel Core i7-6560U. Plenty of

Yes, 14.04.3 worked, thanks! I installed the "server" version instead of

That fixed it. Yay!
Sorry, I thought I tried that before I filed this issue.
I've also since upgraded my kernel to 2.6.39 (to fix an unrelated bug
with my Atheros wifi card -
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/761176), so I
suppose it's possible the new kernel had some effect.
Using the latest kernel from the kernel ppa (2.6.39.0.1~20110419) fixed
the issue. Yay!
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kernel-ppa/ppa
sudo apt-get install linux-generic-pae
sudo reboot
(I can't figure out how to resolve this issue, otherwise I would)

I'm not sure if this is in alsa-driver, I think I'm using pulseaudio.
I don't hear anything I'm actually trying to record, just a loud high-
pitched whine / squeal. Same result with arecord, Skype, gnome-sound-
recorder, and ubuntu-bug audio.

The poster might be referring to a bug in the Google Chrome Web browser.
If so, try upgrading the google-chrome-beta package.
I was getting that error in Google Chrome 5.0.307.11-r39572, but it
appears fixed in 5.0.342.7-r42476.

I noticed the DualPoint TouchPad...lost sync messages in the output of
dmesg. I removed irqpoll from my kernel command line and rebooted, and
mouse movement (via either pointing stick or touchpad) is back to
normal. I'm using 32-bit Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) on a Dell Latitude D630.
