Walter,
Are you SURE its not a performnce problem? There are many people who
report that the Gears app runs grindingly slow. My system ran very slow
on graphical performance. It was no where near as crisp and smart as
when using 10:10 (which I reverted to). Other reports are that the

Hold on - loads of people report this as a bug. Its is such a bug I have
rebuilt my whole system on 10.10 because all my 3D graphics went west
with Tonto.
Is this some new meaning of the word invalid that I am not getting?
If it is not fixed in a customer release, this is still a valid bug. I
Phillipe,
This is disingenuous. Do you really think that users care whether it is
the driver, Jockey, Unity, or anything else that is the fault? The
simple fact is that it is not working.
I have a GeForce GTX 285, not a cheap card. It works under 10.10. Under
11.04 I get no 3d graphics, no
#59: Instead of just telling people to stop saying me too, how about
something just a little more positive. Have the appropriate kernel
developers identified where the bug is? Do they need anyone who has this
bug to run any test code for more detailed investigations? When will a
fix be available?
I agree with ThomasNovin and MaxFrames. This should be treated with more
urgency.
Not only is it a security threat, alleviated only by users taking action
that shoudl be automatic, it is also a green issue, in that it appears
that power management does not kick in either.

I upgraded to Ubuntu 9.10. I no longer have this problem. I consider the
problem to be fixed.

The attempted upgrade on my system then caused the USB memory stick to

Thank you. I am trying to replicate this from an install using alternate
CD without success. I will repeat with Live CD later this week and report.
Interestingly, the USB Memory stick was rendered useless

Please re-read the bug report. This was NOT a live CD. It was an install
on to a USB memory stick that failed when updating.
I think I know that you can't update a CD-ROM.

Please re-read the text of the error report. This was NOT a boot from a
