(although I've tried both America/Chicago and US/Central as
/etc/localtime and they both do the same thing).
In KOrganizer, I have among my calendars the Ubuntu Events
Perhaps I spoke too soon. I closed Kontact and reopened and it's back.
Everything set to UTC is an hour early until April 1.

from Dapper, but now I've done a clean Edgy install, and the problem
disappeared. So I think it may be a problem with upgrading.
