1. sudo apt-get install libcap2-bin
2. sudo setcap cap_net_raw=+ep /usr/bin/dumpcap
It's really working!!! (I hope, this will be a temporary solution)

I have the same problem, on my karmic 64 bit system. when I click on
options menu, or start live capture (with root privileges) system
freezes..

in 9.04 I can't format USB Drive (or another drive) from System -
Administration menu. I have to run
sudo gparted command. (but I don't think, that everyone knows that)
gparted is require a request password form (like NetworkManager), because it's
need a root privileges...

keyboard shortcut not working in ubuntu 9.04. two keyboard layout are installed
(en + ru).
when i change keyboard shortcuts to Shift-Ctrl-XXX for e.g. it works perfect.
