Since about a week ago, X started locking up randomly (about twice a
day). I don’t know what kind of details are relevant but here are some
observations:
- When it locks up the screen is always garbled.
- The keyboard would initially work, but if I don’t kill X or reboot
rig
Has this been fixed or is there a documented workaround? I am still
seeing this in 16.04.

In addition to the unhelpful error message, spawning a graphical error
message in response to a command-line apt-get dist-upgrade is also
unhelpful.

Same issue with Ubuntu 15.04. Systemd just suddenly decides to refuse
rebooting. System is not suspending.
