disk, with GRUB_SAVEDEFAULT=true.
This bug triggers whenever a boot option other than the first is being
selected in the grub menu. Grub won't be able to save that selection.

I have expected this to happen not just for USB input devices but for
all USB devices, like your external drives. I just don't have any other
