The biggest issue with this left/right positioniong is consistency.
Other applications have already be mentioned. But there is also Ubuntu
Netbook Remix. When one maximizes a window, the close button is on the
right hand side again. That's very confusing.

This probably is the same cause as in Bug #341568, so i'm going to mark

I was trying to apply the workaround for kde, but i always got the error
Failed to activate desktop effects.
Here is what i did, to get this working:
1. Turn on Enable desktop effects
2. Switch to page Advanced
3. Turn off Enable direct rendering
4. Switch back to page General
5. Enable desktop
