You have to run Compiz Confusion Settings Manager. You go to Ubuntu
Unity Plugin, then to Switcher tab and you check "Switcher strictly
changes between applications". Problem solved

I agree with Ben and I understand why he is angry. However, I don't
think that we should start a dispute about who is right and who is
wrong.
I am pretty sure that the Unity devs had their reasons for introducing
this Alt-Tab behavior. I am also sure that there is a good deal of
people who work
Sorry, Marco, but if this is the intended design, then the design is
flawed.
Unity Alt-Tab behavior breaches the system of using one shortcut for
switching between applcations and another for switching between windows
of the same application.
The reason for using shortcuts to switch windows is
The problem persists in Ubuntu 14.04 Final Beta.
This bug appeared in 12.04, therefore I don't think it will ever be fixed. In
my opinion, this proves that only few people use Alt-Tab to switch windows.

The m17n workaround (#52) has never stopped working. Sometimes, after some
updates the switch became a little slow, however it keeps working flawlessly.
Even the icon workaround (#56) has no problems

The workaround with m17n concerns the use of hotkeys with different layouts and
not switching between those layouts. For switching layouts there is a separate

There is a workaround for the ugly icons too.
m17n uses the icons located in usr/share/m17n/icons/
In my case (Greek), it was el-kbd.png.
You can substitute the m17n-icon with an icon of your liking. I have tried to
use the default Unity icon located in
Public bug reported:
I am running GnomeClocks 3.8.2 on Ubuntu 13.10. I cannot start the
count-down timer by pressing space as in previous versions.
I don't know whether it's a bug or this feature was intentionally
removed. Anyway, I have always found it very convenient.
** Affects: gnome-clocks
It seems that this bug is almost entirely LibreOffice-specific.
Apparently, the problem lies in the interaction between Libreoffice and
the new way that Gnome handles keyboard events with gnome-settings-
daemon. A corresponding bug has been filed for LibreOffice
A workaround that really works:
- Install ibus-m17n package
- Go to System Settings/Keyboard/Layout Settings and add the m17n-layout for
your language. In my case (Greek), it was Ελληνικά (kbd (m17)).
Now, shortcuts should work.
Finally, I 'm afraid that this bug, which has been around for a

This bug affects only Libreoffice. In other applications (e.g. Gedit,
Nautilus, Thunderbird etc.), the shortcuts work even after switching
layouts. If you remove libreoffice-gtk and libreoffice-gnome, the
