I have what looks to be the same problem, although for me the problem is
not on my boot drive but a secondary drive. How should I work around
it? Should I get the git version of blkid -- will this allow me to
mount?

Attached as requested the log files. Note that, despite my initial optimism
regarding the python fix and the upgrade apparently having worked, I am
having all sorts issues which lead me to beleive that the upgrade is only

NB: I was able to fix the problem by manually installing the python
files.
following some adivce that I ran into on the web
sudo apt-get install python2.5
sudo apt-get install python2.6.4
After doing this a sudo apt-get upgrade completed
I have seen similar reports elsewhere of upgrades
Just to confirm that this bug is still cropping up (end of March 2008!).
I am currently doing the apt-get dist-upgrade and will report on
results.
