Any USB 2.0 device I plug into the mac is detected, but runs at usb 1.0 speeds.
I see ehci hubs in lsusb, but the ohci hubs seem to "grab" whatever
device I plug in.

I have noticed this as well, particularly with fixed-width bitmap fonts.
I'm trying to use profont, which worked great in 9.10. On 10.04, any
time there is bolding or color, Konsole has trouble - appearing to use

Ok apport seems to think this bug is closed when afaik it's not. Also i
am currently running lucid however there are no more .34 kernels for
lucid except for one which oop's. Going to give up on this for now and
aim for Luicid+1. It's been there since hardy, i guess i can wait

I think I actually *have* seen this...
My setup:
Fileserver, 1.5TB array on JFS bunch of big files (videos mostly, some ISO's
and the like - but none of these files *ever* change)
one client with 400GB internal SATA HDD on ext4, running Karmic with
2.6.31-15-generic AMD64 kernel
one client with
more info from my setup:
i have done memtest on all boxes, everything is fine
network is a wired network (not thinking it should matter, SSH would barf if
packets were coming in with errors,)
the smallest file for which i saw corruption was about 120MB,
the incidence seemed to be about 6 corrupt
oh yes, one more thing,
all fs's were created formatted by the Karmic installer, using the release
media

I've noticed on Karmic that I can't seem to hint to KDE which output to use as
my primary (ie where my toolbar goes.)
I've got a Thinkpad T61 with:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960
This does seem to be SMP related. I disabled one of my cores on the X200
and dramatically reduced the number of wakeups. I can get down to around
7.3 watts now which is fantastic.

I did some testing with UXA and EXA (Not XAA) during jaunty with it's
kernels and .30 and it was still present. If it's in intel driver issue
then it's present in both EXA and UXA. UXA is currently the only
supported option with 2.8 afaik.

I guess it really depends on how important battery life of notebooks is
for this release. I would anticipate that with the push on net books and
laptops it would be reasonably important.
The battery life has been slowly getting better since Hardy but it still
does make a significant difference.
Well apparently on Vista ( i don't have vista so can't test this ) with
the thinkpad drivers the fan doesn't spin up unless the machine gets hot
enough. Henrique doesn't really like userspace fan controls from what I
understand, however they are useful for testing.

off wi-fi via the RF kill switch, ifconfig eth0 down and turned of wake
on lan. The screen was dimmed and i ran powertop and followed its
instructions.

I have enabled UXA also and while the performance problems are
significantly reduced, I would not say they are gone. It's still
sluggish compared to intrepid on my x4500 ( IBM thinkpad X200 ).
It has not been unstable for me with UXA however there are some other

a way to make Intrepid usable without disabling acpi completely.

To answer a question above: a lot of the ICH10 support is fairly new.

It's even simpler than you suggest.
Simply add ehci_hcd to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules
without changing anything else.
This worked like a champ for me. added the line then regenerated the initramfs,
