Hello, I am currently running Ubuntu Vivid.
I can confirm that this occurs on Linux 3.19 and Nvidia-346.47 as well.
DKMS fails when a new kernel is installed. Need to reinstall or reconfigure
nvidia-346 and nvidia-346-uvm packages manually.

This occurs on Utopic as well.
The Nvidia DKMS process failed for nvidia-331.113 when upgrading from

Installed nvidia-prime on trusty on kernel 3.13, getting a black screen when

Just eject the modem's CD-ROM to switch to usbserial mode.
eg: eject /dev/sr1
Where sr1 refers to the modem's USB Storage mode.
The device then switches to modem mode.
Saucy and Trusty's kernels already have the appropriate drivers, so the modem
will be detected automatically after that.

Here is the output on my optimus laptop.
I suffer from the same issue of no video output on Nvidia, but Intel's working
fine.
Have to go to VT and purge nvidia and restart. Then reinstall nvidia and switch
to Intel using nvidia-settings.

I installed Mir and restarted lightdm service.
Then it went into low graphics mode. I switched to a VT and rebooted.
Then it booted fine, but graphics was slightly slower.
unity-system-compositor is present in the list of processes, which
indicates Mir is running fine.

I have a D-Link DWM-156 HSPA Modem, that I bought just a few days ago.
The modem has drivers in its internal storage. There are Debian Software
Packages for both i386 and amd64, so obviously I installed the amd64.deb
using Software Center: 3g_modem_connect_D300_amd64.deb .
I have installed usb-modeswitch again.
Now the modem is not recognized at all, even with the SIM Card removed.
