Exactly the same problem here, on ubuntu 12.10 (x64 platform),
libreoffice Version 3.6.2.2 (Build ID: 360m1(Build:2))
I know this is related somehow with libgtk, but there are too many bug
reports relating to it and I am little lost. Is there a current
workaround for it?

AS of #20 and #21, tested with kernel 3.8

Sorry, I didn't install the image-extra package. After installing it the
behaviour booting with kernel 3.8.0.030800 is the same as those booting
from kernel 3.5.0.25 (screen flickering).

The iso on the CD worked fine, but from when I did the first package upgrading
(list of upgraded packages attached) the screen flicks.

for the xerox_mfp driver:
Open a terminal and type:
sudo gedit /etc/sane.d/xerox_mfp.conf

and found tons of odt2txt processes.. ubuntu 9.04

I am no longer affected by this bug. All I done was to remove (modprobe -r)
b43,b44,ssb,ndiswrapper and then modprobe them back.
I didn't need to place this commands in any init script.. with my surprice, I
got everything working even after reboot.

hello.. I have ubuntu 8.04 beta plus all the upgrades and I am affected
by this bug as well. I have a BCM4311 card and I needs ndiswrapper as
the native driver works fine if close to the router, but perform badly
when little far away...
