I have been doing some testing and found the issue is resolved in Kernel
2.6.32.5 and seems to reappear with 2.6.32.6 and higher. I hope this
helps in fixing the issue. Let me know if any more information is
required.

Installed Linux Kernel 2.6.32 and the system works fine but if any
package is updated like Rhythm Box the system starts to hang again.
Reinstalled the kernel again to fix the issue. Any other workaround or
this bug will be closed as not being fixed in 9.10?

Hi Colin,
Thanks for the reply. As mentioned the issue is only in Ubuntu 9.04 32bit. I
tried Ubuntu 9.04 64 bit and also 9.10 32bit Beta and it works fine. Looks like
the issue is with 32bit 2.6.28 series kernel alone.
