you could be right i did forget to mention the xorg-edgers-ppa.
i will investigate.
though it should be mentioned that it would be prefered if the error said wich
source is prefenting

ppa-purge xorg-edgers. Note: This currently has issues in oneiric because

i'm having the same problem.. stil! even after the official release of 14.04.
i'm upgrading from 13.10.
even after disabeling -backports and every non-ubuntu source.

I've had the same problem.
what fixed it for me was to change in /etc/postfix/sasl/smtpd.conf:
Replace:
auxprop_plugin: mysql
with:
auxprop_plugin: sql
sql_engine: mysql
and change the %u in sql_select: select password from mail_user where
login = '%u' to %u@%r
thats all..

Also Just confirming.
aditional info.
if replying and already made changes, than changing color freezes everything.
but you can't close the message beacause you made changes and the buttons to
discard etc don't work.
only way is to destroy process in system monitor. or killall in command promt.

okey update:
just updated to Ubuntu 11.10 from 11.04.
and i get similar error('s).
the solution mentioned here doesn't work for me.
it starts with modem-manager saying it cannot connect to system bus.

i can confirm this bug.
using the onboard soundcard of an Asrock a785gxh/128m (VIA® VT1708S Audio Codec)
recently chanced my motherbord (from an msi K9a2 platinum)
and removed my SB audigy (why i don't know. sound is awful now.)
after that i had this problem.
