message and the problem turned out to be my server. OpenSSH was set up
correctly, but /dev/null had the wrong permissions (700 instead of 666)
which was stopping SFTP from functioning.

I think this is a fglrx issue. I too am running 10.04 with fglrx and
compiz and have exactly the same problem. Running in full screen mode is
impossible due to the massive full screen corruption. Running in
windowed mode is useable, but not nice.

I get EXACTLY the same symptoms when using the 32bit version of Flash Player
v10.0.45 on Firefox 3.7a3pre. Again, no problems at all on Firefox 3.6.3.

way to Karmic now. Amarok 2.2.2 has been tagged [1], meaning that its
codebase has been set and it'll be out on Monday. Within a few days of
that time, it should be available in a PPA on kubuntu.org, similar to
how Amarok
This sounds like the type of issue that wouldn't be Amarok specific but
instead closer to the underlying media framework that plays the files.
In Amarok's case, that is Phonon, which will usually plug into Xine or
Gstreamer in the backend.
Here are several things I'd like you to try so we can get

permissions issue. That's why sudo is required to run things, your
amarok folder may be owned by root. Try running

phonon backends, specifically the gstreamer backend. Try switching to

This was a bug in 1.3.4 which upstream fixed for the 1.3.5 release (May
2008). This only affects users still using the old version of Audacity

This should work (i.e. import audio) in Audacity 1.3.6 (October 2008)
and newer because they use FFMpeg to import audio from video files.
Certainly it shouldn't try and import it as an MP3 file any more.

I got it to work with the sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade,
though I had ubuntu one running the first time. Then it didn't work.

Sudo update and upgrade are not fixing the problem for me.

well, I got the message capabilities mismatch error and I used the tip to
make
'sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade' and ubuntuone is connected.
