The same problem I'm facing also in Ubuntu 12.04.1. When I connect the
StarTech.com's USB2VGAE2 adapter, I don't see any new display device in the
"Display" on the "Systems Settings". But during that time the "lsusb" command
returns the following:
------------------------
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 007 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 008 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 0711:5100 Magic Control Technology Corp. Magic Control
Technology Corp. (USB2VGA dongle)
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 05c8:0114 Cheng Uei Precision Industry Co., Ltd
(Foxlink)
Bus 004 Device 002: ID 046d:c05a Logitech, Inc. Optical Mouse M90
Bus 006 Device 002: ID 08ff:2580 AuthenTec, Inc. AES2501 Fingerprint Sensor
----------------------
This means the USB2VGA Dongle was detected by Ubuntu 12.04.1. But there is no
driver that can make it usable. I'm looking forward to this bug report trail.
Thanks for your time.
