The same problem I'm facing also in Ubuntu 12.04.1. When I connect the StarTech.com's USB2VGAE2 adapter, I don't see any new display device in the "Display" on the "Systems Settings". But during that time the "lsusb" command returns the following: ------------------------ Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 007 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 008 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 001 Device 005: ID 0711:5100 Magic Control Technology Corp. But there is no driver that can make it usable. I'm looking forward to this bug report trail. Thanks for your time.
