May have had the same issue, or perhaps some other bug related to
suspend on E6400, and fixed it by installing nvidia-current.

You are right, Marco! That really helps a lot.
I knew about the shortcut, but never considered that the application
menu shortcut could be used to access indicators. Indicators are a
completely different thing, so on my part it does deserve a special
keyboard shortcut. F10 definately makes it usab
Public bug reported:
There is no way to access the menus in the panel, like the power,
network, sound and me menus using a keyboard. Like the Dock and
application menus I expected the panel to be accessible without using a
mouse.
I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 and Unity 4.24.0-0ubuntu2b1.

Actually it's been working great for me since my last comment. I'm
running Karmic 32-bit with gnome-screensaver 2.28.0-0ubuntu3.5 and
likewise-open5-lsass 5.0.3991.1+krb5-0ubuntu2 now.
I've also set my password to never expire.

Seems like this is fixed in gnome-screensaver 2.28.0-0ubuntu3.3
available in the repository for Karmic now. At least in my case.

By the way: I guess making a script that kills gnome-launch-box before
it launches it again would be a quick workaround.
#!/bin/bash
killall gnome-launch-box
gnome-launch-box -t
If you save this script as gnome-launch-box-startup.sh, you should be
able to bind a key to the script using gconf-edit
I've tried gnome-launch-box on both 7.10 and 8.04 (fully updated), and I
can confirm this bug.
First time I run it it runs fine, but the second time it always fails,
and I have to kill gnome-launch-box. The "dialog" opens up, but it
doesn't respond to keyboard input, like in the description above.
