i have the same issue on a desktop with only one monitor.
Side note: When i boot in recovery mode and choose resume normal boot
without doing anything else in the recovery console, i get the normal
lightdm screen and i'm able to login normally.

i got the error. I sniffed the transfered traffic (to an non-cloud http
server) and noticed that the transferred public_key_material is the
base64 encoded _filename_ of the public key, not the base64 encoded
_content_ of the file.
In the method import_key_pair(self, key_name, public_key_material)
I wrote a patch of
/usr/share/pyshared/euca2ools/commands/euca/importkeypair.py and
attached it. Works for me.

folder, so maybe it's more unified.

Bug fixed for me. Multimedia function keys have no Button event and work
as usual. Also the F(1-12) function keys still work.
