I have the same effect on my notebook. It is a Sony VPCF12Z1E with a
BluRay-Recorder if that helps.

Title:
Brasero finishes without error but
Unfortunately, I have exactly the same problem and a similiar laptop (Sony
F12Z1E).
The problem is that my laptop crashes at start therefore I can't get any logs.
The only way to use my installation now is to use the non-nvidia driver.

Nvidia Beta 260 driver breaks 330m cards
It seems there are more and more reports of similiar problems for this
package. I really hope there will be a bug fix any time soon.

I have the same problem.
My model: Sony Vaio VPCF12Z1E.
It is possible that this bug has an relationship to the following bugs: #655078
and #655032
Both authors use a similiar notebook as it seems.
Also: if I am right there is no way for downloading a binary driver of
that version (260.19.06)
i8042.nomux=1 fixed the issue for me too. But sorry at the moment I have
not enough time to test a current live cd of 8.10.

Bugs,
As libWand.so.9 aka libmagick9 is not available from the repositories
anymore, Hardy is perfectly useless for some (most?) web hosting
companies. Please rebuild php5-imagick to use libWand.so.10 aka
libmagick10.

Same problem here (using german locales). Didn't test other locales for
now.

I have the same problem with Hardy at the moment. It begins right after login
into gnome.
I already updated the BIOS to A08 (released on 2008-03-19) but it didn't help.
I can't see any pointer problems with Vista. Therefore I assume that this is no
hardware fault.
I have the same system btw.
It seems deleting the '-n' in 'echo -n $f2 /sys/$f1' solves the
problem. At least for me it seems to work then. Happy hacking eastern!

Binary package hint: parted
The ubuntu parted that is on the feisty installation cds has a bug when
creating gpt labels (at least on large disk arrays). We tried to create a gpt
label and one XFS partition on a 10,5 TB RAID6-Array.
Notice: Exactly the same procedure worked

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: rhythmbox
I just tried to use the new last.fm player in rhythmbox. When I double click to
Neighbour Radio I just get the answer that there is no plugin to handle that.
On the console I get the following message: don't know how to handle
audio/mpeg.
Same problem here after a fresh and standard Dapper Drake install, then
changing every dapper to edgy in sources.list. After all that I used
apt-get dist-upgrade to upgrade to egdy.
