I'm trying to connect my laptop to an external monitor / hdtv via vga cable.
When I change the resolution on the computer to 1360x768 it appears to me that
it really is using 1280x768 instead. So that results in the hole screen not
being used and the image is a bit blurry.
Same problem as well with..

Can confirm that changing the XVideo adaptor number to 1 in VLC works!
Overlay works fine in VLC with compiz enabled.

I have the same problem. I can't watch videos on my laptop because of this.
Video performance is really bad.
I'm currently running hardy with the latest updates, I thought that the
update xserver-xorg-video-intel (2:2.2.0.90-2ubuntu7) would solve my
problem, but it didn't.
I also tried adding
