This bug was introduced in di-4.31.
It has been fixed in di-4.37.
di-4.37 is available for download from http://gentoo.com/di/
I have notified the upstream (debian) maintainer about the new release.
Since Ubuntu is unlikely to update the package, I would recommend
either using an alias:
