Am suffering from a similar problem, which is that Firefox 99.0.1
running on Ubuntu 22.04 creates $HOME/firefox.tmp and $HOME/snap
directories without being asked every time it starts.

I just went to take the screenshot, and the problem has disappeared. The
formatting now looks good. The dialog is the normal Gnome file selector.
I did an "apt full-upgrade" earlier today, and notice that some Gnome
packages such as gnome-menus were updated. Maybe this has fixed the
problem?

I've found the problem. I have poor eyesight, and have my minimum font
size is set to 15 points. However, the font for monospace for the latin
character set was set to "Default (DejaVu Sans Mono)" 12 point. Upon
changing this to 15 point to match my minimum font size, the text wraps
at 72 character
