I've succeeded in changing the picture by disabling XMPP, changing it. It
crashes then I restarted and the picture was changed. I've then re-enabled WLM.
Note that I'm using 'MyStatusBox' as plugin which enable me to choose different
status for each protocol but different picture as well.

I've just done a fresh reinstall of Ubuntu 8.04 32 bits. The mixer
wasn't working right even after all the updates. The rebuild of alsa
modules fixed the problems as usually.

When I launch Thunderbird I get sometimes this message :
The program 'thunderbird-bin' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'.

I didn't precise I've got the up to date 8.04 version of Ubuntu.
Thunderbird-gnome packet is also installed.
And also when I don't get this message Thunderbird works correctly.
