I finally managed to capture a very brief screen print of the
pixelation/scrambling of my screen upon opening thunderbird while
firefox is open. if you look at the bottom right hand side of the frame,
you can see a tiny amount of it. it's been worse than that but at least
you can get a sense of

ok, I'm must confess that I didn't download the daily build for just
ubuntu 17.10. that's what i've been testing lately and I downloaded the
ubuntu gnome daily build 17.10 (for today 2017-07-28) which is weird
because i didn't think anything was going to be separately for gnome
except change

adwaita-dark option for applications and any text box to input text

I opened all of the apps in settings and those are fine. No glitches at
all. The soft shadows those windows have around them are normal and
don't look like black boxes surrounding the windows that I showed you
and they're always there.

"julyshakedown" mysterious shadow around window when check marking and
option box inside of window.

here's a small video of me opening firefox. it's not pixelating like it
was but the odd black "shadow" is there. i did have a heavy
pixelation/scrambling of the screen earlier and then i started recording
and it hasn't happened yet.
