Adam, upstream does provide a compile script, but it's not at all geared
towards a package management system like dpkg. The tarball includes
things like ecj and a some Java libraries that should be pulled in as
dependencies. I've taken a look at it, and believe me, it's not as easy
as to package
Haha, I haven't messed with packaging Processing in a while, not since
they began moving the build process to Ant. I'll take another look at
the trunk and see what's happened since then.

Thanks for the knowledge. I s'pose we should mark this bug as invalid in
Ubuntu, then.

/usr/share/apps/kdm/sessions/*.desktop are from upstream. The Ubuntu
package does not use those, but uses /usr/share/xsessions/*.desktop

Cool, so fixing bug 69155 would make this bug moot.
Why does the KDM package install files to /usr/share/apps/kdm/sessions?

No, this is a bug in kdm. Window managers should put .desktop files for
their sessions in /usr/share/xsessions. kdm is responsible for
/usr/share/apps/kdm/sessions (or
/usr/lib/kde4/share/kde4/apps/kdm/sessions/ for kdm-kde4).
Of course, ratpoison doesn't install
As Dan O'Huiginn noted, the Debian fix does not apply to Ubuntu, as
Ubuntu's x-window-manager packages use /usr/share/xsessions.

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: stumpwm
stumpwm should install a .desktop file in /usr/share/xsessions so it is
included in gdm's list of X sessions.

Doesn't install /usr/share/xsessions/stumpwm.desktop
StumpWM doesn't technically need sbcl. It needs an implementation of
Common Lisp, and CLX (the Common Lisp X interface, basically Xlib for
Common Lisp).
The stumpwm package Depends on common-lisp-controller, which helps with
making sure there's a CL compiler, and cl-clx-sbcl | cmucl-source |
/usr/bin/stumpwm contains:
load_lisp() {
case $1 in
cmucl)
lisp -eval $EVAL_LOAD $EVAL_RUN
;;
sbcl)
sbcl --eval $EVAL_LOAD --eval $EVAL_RUN
;;
clisp)
clisp -x $EVAL_LOAD $EVAL_RUN
stumpwm should Depend on sbcl | cmucl | clisp

I've just realized that my fix only works if include_path has already
been set in php.ini. It seems that if include_path has not been
explicitly set before conf.d/smarty.ini is included it causes a
segfault.
