I too had this problem (hibernation broke on update to Edgy). The procedure described above worked. My problem may have been that my /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume file just said: RESUME= Somehow the swap partition UUID never got registered there on the Edgy upgrade. -- Hibernation
