Audacity doesn't load the libavformat library that comes with the
Maverick ffmpeg packages. I'm able to locate it, but when I click Ok,
the library version is still listed as FFmpeg library not found.
My laptop is more or less a production machines and I don't feel
comfortable running Maverick on

I've also run into this problem. I first experienced it a few days ago
and it magically fixed itself. I burned about 3 or 4 DVDs since
Wednesday night when it just started working on its own until now, where
I'm having the same problem again and it's not going away.
I'm going to try the 2.6.32
No luck with the mentioned 2.6.32 kernel, so I removed it and went back
to my previous kernel. I started playing with Brasero and K3b and K3b
magically decided to work. I still get the dmesg I/O errors, but it's
still burning.

This bug was not fixed in the above package. Running 10.04 Lucid and am
currently experiencing this exact problem.

upgrade from a previous install.

I also ran into this bug when I upgraded a few days ago from 9.10 to
10.04.
Jonathan Harker's advice (post #9) to dpkg -r anyevent-perl solved my
problem since apt-get will spit back errors trying to remove or add
anything because of this libanyevent-perl package.

Upgrading from Karmic to Lucid, it seems the xserver-xorg-input-
synaptics package was removed and never reinstalled. When I went to try
Chris Highfield's idea (#9), I noticed the package was a dependency and
was downloaded because it wasn't installed.
