Just thought that I would chime in here and say that this is definitely
a WiFi interference issue. On my Dell XPS 9550 (bcm20703a1 bluetooth
chipset) I would get really bad choppy, de-synced audio sometimes. I
finally figured out that whenever it was happening, I was connected to a
2.4 GHz WiFi
This happened to me again today, after I did an apt update. The problem
is, the kernel modules (or something) changed, but not the kernel
version, so I don't have a backup kernel configuration that I can boot
from. This makes it literally impossible for me to boot my machine.

Disk is encrypted using full disk encryption. I could enter my password
to decrypt the disk when booting in 4.4.0-47, but after upgrading to
4.4.0-51, I'm prompted for the password, but I can't type anything.

1) Start Xephyr with the Composite extension disabled, e.g. `Xephyr :1

2) run `xdpyinfo -display :1 | grep
I just tried it by saving an imgboard.html page from 4chan to my
computer and commenting out any lines that contained Japanese
characters, (notably, the このサイトについて - 翻訳 link at the top of the page,
which isn't visible due to the ghosting) and the ghosting didn't happen,
whereas it did happen with
I think it has to do with the size of the kana. If I just increase the
font size for the page with Ctrl++, the ghosting doesn't occur.

Whoops, I somehow missed Supersonicdarky's post. But yeah, it only
happens when asian characters are rendered in small point-sizes.

I get the same thing on my desktop computer running 8.04/Firefox 3 (but
not firefox 2) with the non-free nvidia drivers. However, I don't get
it on my laptop which has an Intel graphics card, so I think it's a
driver problem. It's kind of odd that the only page I'm able to
replicate this bug
loop-aes-source isn't available in any Ubuntu version past 6.06, I
think, but you can get the loop-aes-source deb from Debian's testing
distribution, (http://packages.debian.org/testing/admin/) then just
install it with dpkg and build it using module-assistant. It worked for
me with 7.04, 7.10

After upgrading from 7.10 to 8.04, titlebars and borders are not being
drawn on unfocused windows, and no shadows or other window decorations
are being drawn at all (see screenshot) with compiz enabled. Other
desktop effects seem to work fine.

Changing the symlink at /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libwfb.so to point to
/usr/lib/nvidia/libwfb.so.xserver-xorg-core (which fixes some other
compiz problems like the pink shadows bug) *seems* to have fixed this
problem for me.
