In case you don't use PortAudio (but e.g. PulsAudio) there is a workaround: delete or rename /usr/share/jitsi/lib/native/libjnportaudio.so this solved the issue in my case Thanks to Ingo who figured that out! Here's the discussion in the jitsi issues: https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi/issues/113

I can confirm this bug on Lubuntu 14.10 as well as on Ubuntu 14.10 Additionally, I think (but I'm not sure how to prove it) evince suffers from the same bug. It freezes if I want to fill forms in PDF documents. Starting evince with 'unset GTK_IM_MODULE evince' again works as a workaround. This
