Woowh That's a long time after intial. message. But it does work out
well.
Note do not start in deamon mode, just use upstart.
Before using it with upstart first remove the start link's with update
rc.d .
If you wan't to stop proftpd just do it with sudo killall -9 proftpd.

I finally found a workaround based on limiting wifi to mode wifi G.
In a terminal :
echo options iwlwifi 11n_disable = 1 | sudo tee / etc / modprobe.d /
iwlwifi.conf
sudo modprobe -rfv iwlwifi
sudo modprobe iwlwifi
Now, the wifi works, even if limited in speed.

I had the same bug using the beid packages from the Ubuntu repositories
(v 3.5.2). Crashed under Chromium too.
I fixed it by uninstalling the current version (removing all *beid*
packages) and installing the latest deb packages from the official EID
website:
