I am also having this problem. I can add a component, but after adding
one, the program does nothing for a little while (~10 sec) or until I
hide and reopen the components window. This is also true when adding
connectors. I have to open and close the components window for them to
appear. No

Peter fixed a load of stuff and it got merged in xserver master.
Unfortunately there have not been any development releases of xserver master
