Wow, I haven't used that laptop for years, and I sent it to electronics
recycling a few months ago when it finally broke beyond repair (I had
passed it on to someone else to use)...

An unresolvable problem
I would like to reopen this bug for Lucid. I have pasted the output at
the default verbosity below. Let me know if more information is needed.
The error seems to be the same, although the output is different,
perhaps due to some changes in the source.

I concur. I had to add a few lines to my /etc/network/interfaces file to
make my wireless connection work consistently, thus avoiding using a
network manager entirely.
A minus to this is that if I want to connect to a friend's wireless
network or a hotspot, I have to comment out those lines and
I will be giving this computer away soon as I am getting a new one. As
such, I will probably be unable to help with this bug any longer since
the new computer will have an entirely different graphics card. It has
