Perhaps the package needs an update in the stable Ubuntu releases and

The application is wrong. It should look for libfbclient.so.2 and
nothing else.

I can't find -fno-stack-protector in the 2.1.0.17798-0.ds2-1
sources/patches, so it must have something to do with the build
