No idea, but I'm guessing the problems other SDL games are experiencing
are issues with pulseaudio itself, or rather the way it's setup on
people's systems. :(

[hardy] soundproblems with zsnes
** Summary changed:
- zsnes 64-bit searches for libao files incorrectly
+ libao.so contains hardcoded paths
** Description changed:
- ZSNES cannot be compiled as a 64-bit binary, and therefore uses 32-bit
- libraries on 64-bit systems. A 64-bit package could be made of the
- 32-bit binary
I've noticed that ZSNES freezes hard when using SDL as well. Sending it
a SIGTERM (15?) doesn't get rid of it, but a SIGKILL (9?) does.
Shouldn't require a restart of the entire X Server.

zsnes -ad sdl with libsdl1.2debian-oss installed on previous versions of
ubuntu worked ok, although it definitely didn't produce the best quality
sound. Some ways to increase this was to change the sound to 48000hz,
and I was just recently informed that running with ROM-specific hacks
turned off

ZSNES cannot be compiled as a 64-bit binary, and therefore uses 32-bit
libraries on 64-bit systems. A 64-bit package could be made of the
32-bit binary relatively easy (whether it would violate Debians
packaging standards or not IDK).
Among others, it uses libao for sound

Just tried to install samba. My internet connection is working properly,
I'm guessing that the permissions on these files are set incorrectly:

Same here, trying to use my tv-out with nvidia-glx, xinerama, and I'm in Gutsy.
All I had to do was switch back to metacity, it didn't affect anything else.
I've attached my xorg.conf file if it helps.

Thanks for clearing this up Micah!
I Didn't ever realize there were different versions of vi, I assumed
vim was just the proper package name for vi. Also, I wasn't aware nano
was the default editor for ubuntu, I guess I should read up and start
learning nano.
