Dan, thanks for your work on this symptom. Unfortunately the debdiff
that you attached 1) is reversed, 2) cannot be applied to the natty
source package. I've tweaked the patch locally and will proceed with the
StableReleaseUpdates process.

As a comment, this is unlikely to be a bug in rtkit itself but in some
other package's maintainer's script and/or adduser or shadow. See bug
432964 and bug 523896 for comparison.
