One solution is creating Install more screensavers button on
screensaer dialog that install -extra packages.
Personally I prefer more HD backgrounds that screensavers, less and less
used (screensaver concept is born with CRT display for real technical
reasons). Its better use monitor power save

Is the same problem of using MAKEDEV, a deprecated script. I've written
a patch available on #340873 that remove MAKEDEV calls and load at boot
ircomm-tty and irnet modules (they create /dev interfaces).

New patch version of postinst that remove deprecated MAKEDEV script
calls, remove old modprobe config file (if exist) and add ircomm-tty and
irnet modules into modprobe.d config file.
This is a patch to debian/irda-utils.irda-setup.init that make this init
script LSB compliant.

Binary package hint: irda-utils
For make USB-IrDA devices hotpluggable and working instantly, needs a
udev rule that call irattach for new device plugged in. Obviously we
need to kill irattach on plug out.
This is a working rule for udev:
SUBSYSTEM==net, SUBSYSTEMS==usb,
