[Bug 549447] Re: eGalax touchscreen configured as tablet

2012-03-10 Thread Dave C
This diatribe of information was useful getting my 8 Xenarc 800TSV screen working with the evdev driver on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS but the volume of info was such that it was hard to figure out what was the right thing to do vs the wrong thing to do. So I wanted to summarize what I did so others

[Bug 760769] Re: Desktop stops responding to all keyboard and mouse clicks

2011-04-19 Thread Dave C
I just upgraded from 10.10 to 11.04 and I'm getting the same problem. Unity loads and I can move the mouse but nothing responds to mouse clicks or the keyboard. I can switch to the console with Alt+Ctrl+F2, when I switch back with Alt+Ctrl+F7 I get a black screen with the mouse cursor. The Ubuntu

[Bug 243410] Re: Inkblot Doesn't work for Ubuntu 8.04

2010-01-16 Thread Dave C
@Bruce R -- thanks for the response. I'll just add that this is a regression from a previous install of Ubuntu. I'd have to dig out the old hard disk and boot it to remember which version, exactly, but on a prior version of Ubuntu (I'm thinking was 8.10 or maybe 8.04) libinklevel and and

I'm having this problem with 9.04, using a Canon i860 printer. I can't get either inkblot or Qink to recognize the printer. I've added my user to the lp group, and that did not help. How is Mtink supposed to help? As far as I can tell, it is for Epson printers only -- so anyone with a Canon or

[Bug 249039] Re: GDM error on shutdown/restart

2009-07-03 Thread Dave C
Absolutely *not* cosmetic for me. With a freshly updated 8.04, I see this hang on absolutely every shutdown. It is not clear that I can move forward past 8.04 LTS without losing the accelerated nvidia drivers and with that, I would lose a critical application. The primary user of the machine is

[Bug 249039] Re: GDM error on shutdown/restart

2009-07-03 Thread Dave C
For the record... on further investigation, I no longer believe that this bug is the cause of my particular shutdown hang. It *is* the last error message in the shutdown log, but after the message is issued, I hear the hard disk park, and see a power down message. My current thinking is that the
