To add some perspective to the report, what the unity-scope-video-remote
package does is getting a list of video sources on a server managed by
Canonical:
http://videosearch.ubuntu.com/v0/sources
These video sources are then displayed in the filters of the Videos lens.
When you activate one of

If you find interesting sources providing an API, you should open a bug
on the Candiru project (https://bugs.launchpad.net/candiru) to ask for
it. It could become included by default for everyone, or depending on
your geolocation.
You could also turn the lens into a scope for the video lens and
Martin, it's not hardcoded, the list of sources is currently provided by
http://videosearch.ubuntu.com/v0/sources , based on your IP geolocation.
I agree that it should be handled better, probably by matching these sources to
a list of potential translated strings. Or server side.

kroq-gar78 is right. If you open the fIlters in the top right of the lens, you
can see all the video sources.
I'm re-assigning the bug to the videosearch server, the remote videos scope is
just a client for it.

1) the lens looks if a Nautilus thumbnail exists before trying to generate one.
2) for the lens to trigger the thumbnailing process, the file needs to be 1) a
video 2) in the Videos folder. It wasn't the lens working in the Chromium web
cache.

That's a pretty cool scope, but I'm not sure that categories would be
the best way to solve this. Categories are more about the status of data
than its nature. Nevertheless, as we don't have any default scope
relying on this kind of filters, categories would have the benefits of

directly. User queries are sent to a server managed by Canonical which
then queries the many sources displayed by the lens.

I doubt that the PPA was responsible for your Unity issues. The version
currently in distro is, since yesterday, the same one as in the PPA.
There should be a lot of new upgraders next week, they will help tune
the thumbnailer and find out when he has issues. Thanks for your testing

Currently, the searchable part of the lens only sees files in the
~/Videos folder.
Several ways of fixing this, in my order of preference:
- The example content is moved to ~/Images, ~/Videos,~/Documents, etc.
- The My Videos category indexes watched videos not in ~/Videos (with
