Collectd 5.1 has been out for a few months, 5.0 has been out since March
2011 and the current version of collectd in the ubuntu repo (4.10.1) has
bugs that have been fixed in subsequent 4.10.x releases. Can we please
get an update to either 4.10 or even better 5.1.0 as it
Precise has now been released and I'm still seeing this bug on multiple
computers. The fullscreening of chrome using F11 does work as a
temporary work around though.

I'm running a desktop machine (Sandy bridge onboard graphics) and I've
been affected by this bug too. I can confirm that enabling Lock screen
when screensaver is active that the problem goes away.

I've been having the same problem as well. My machine is using the
onboard graphics of an Intel H67 sandybridge motherboard. Based off
micred's comment of it possibly being the same issue as in Bug 780653, I
tried enabling the option Lock screen when screensaver is active in
the screensaver
So it turns out that all this card needed was a firmware update. The
card was running a firmware from 2006 with the latest version H2.0.7.1B
being released in 12/5/2007.

I put Daniel Carrera's solution to work with a simple bash script:
#!/bin/bash
if [ ! -x /tmp/.esd ]; then
mkdir -p /tmp/.esd
touch /tmp/.esd/socket
fi
I then call this from /etc/rc.local and via a cron job once a day.

Sound does not work properly in Flash in firefox
I initially didn't have any /var/run/console directory at all. I created
the directory and updated /etc/pam.d/common-session as per bug 34063.
After a reboot, g-v-m is now behaving as expected.

After upgrading from breezy to dapper, gnome-volume-manager no longer
works on an i386 machine. Running gnome-volume-manager -n as suggested
here:
