I have the same problem on my Asus Z71v. Speedstep is supposedly enabled, and will kick in as soon as I unplug the power cord, but when plugged in, it's always at the maximum multiplier. Also when plugged in, any CPU monitoring utilities use up an inordinate amount of the CPU power. System monit
