command like I did when I repaired my non-booting system.

Update: the boot repair disk fails to boot, because of the PAE bug.
Adding forcepae to the boot options does not help either. However,
Super Grub2 Disk does boot, recognizes the config and can be used to
boot the system. Now I have the safest laptop ever! Nobody can boot it
but me!

* I Used the Super Grub Disk to boot into the existing installation on my laptop
* I checked /etc/mtab to see which device was mounted (in my case /dev/sda)
* then I ran sudo grub-install --boot-directory=/boot /dev/sda

to append logs. So I did not.
I wanted to upgrade an old laptop with a non-working keyboard to the

have no spare machine for a re-upgrade, so reproduction is a bit
difficult. This is my current /var/log/Xorg.0.log, though I do not think
it will help much now.

When upgrading to Intrepid, the keyboard section of /etc/X11/xorg.conf
is commented out, and a comment is added:

This leaves the user completely in the dark as to where the HAL is, how
it is configured, etc. Furthermore,

Briquolo). Unreal Tournament runs slow after upgrade to Intrepid, but
this may be a Wine issue (PSPad runs much slower also, but is not a
fullscreen application).

Same error here. I deliberately do not select anything that has to do
with VNC. I am on an internal network, so if this is insecure I will
live with that.
When I choose sesman-X11rdp, I can give a username and a password,
which leads to the another X server active error.

I can get either GDM working by restarting in safe mode and running xfix OR
get my Wacom tablet running, but not both. I had no trouble at all with GDM and
my Wacom tablet under Gutsy.
But my biggest problem is that nothing will give any clue to what happens:

I also had this problem after reinstalling my Wacom Bamboo1 tablet. I had it
working just fine on Gutsy, but the Hardy upgrade breaks every x.org setting
there is. Luckily, I had a backup of my original xorg.conf.
After running all the commands on

did not have the rights on them afterwards, even though I owned the
mount points. I solved it by adding uid=username to the fstab lines.

I see the same message in dmesg also. My problem is a wacom bamboo one
that refuses to be recognized. More specifically, not /dev/input/wacom
exists. Could this message have anything to do with this? Should I
register something with AppArmour? If so, how do I do that?

Correction: My tablet works now, but the messages are still there: one
after fuse-init and one after nfsd. I do not experience problems with my
system, though.
