Hello everyone,

I have had the same touchpad problem with my Asus GL552VW running on
Linux Mint 17.3 KDE. After updating my kernel to 4.5.3 I managed to get
the touchpad working. I got the information how to do this from:
https://www.pcsteps.com/858-kernel-upgrade-linux-mint-ubuntu/

But at this moment the fan was going crazy. After changing my GPU driver
from nouveau to nvidia the fan worked fine. But changing the driver gave
some errors (nvidia error log included). The GPU driver is currently the
only driver not working properly (under the previous kernel 3.19,
standard mint 17.3 kernel, it worked nice though).

When starting up I also see the image of Linux mint slowly growing but
only at the y axis, not the x axis. After this it's sometimes slow while
rendering or showing black "sweeps". Also the buttons on f5 (less
brightness), f6 (more brightness) and f7 (screen off) are not working at
all.

Greetings,
Elrick
