That's right. Of course I have no personal interest in fixing this since
I read the release notes and know how to use Launchpad, but Ubuntu is
also supposed to target new users who have never installed an OS before.

Which question was that? They asked me to attach my .xsession-errors,
which I did, and they asked me if newly created users are affected, to
which I replied negatively. I haven't noticed any other question.
