The developer sent me a modified xio-udp.c that handles the forked
processes better, killing after the timeout. Replacing this file
resolves the bug.

Just to register. I also just installed ubuntu-7.10-beta-
desktop-i386.iso, and I have no sound, no headphone, no mic.
My sound card is:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio
Controller (rev 03)
and I am running kernel 2.6.22-generic.
