I have experiencing this for a while now (1 year+), with the laptop (Thinkpad
T430s) stalling at times, and often for a long period (hours). Even under very

What worked for me (Lenovo T430s) with 12.10 (amd64) was use
libasound2-plugins:i386 instead of :amd64. Here's the link:
