I solved my case today, thanks to your comments too.
On my HP Sleekbook 15, the EFI partition was read only because there were
errors on it. Therefore it was impossible to make any change to it.
I found out the files under the "EFI/ubuntu" directory were totally
garbled, the names themselves were
I have the very same problem with another intel chipset, so I don't
think I should start another bug on launchpad.

Hardy too.
I have an ASUS WL-167G usb dongle (rt73usb) and it's not working. I'm not able
to connect to any network, open or wpa-protected.
