I have only a brprintconf_mfcj6510dw (which already works fine) in
/usr/bin but nothing for hl2270dw, however according to the Brother
website, the HL2270DW is supposed to work with brprintconflsr2 (brother-
lpr-drivers-laser) so I installed it, but
sudo brprintconflsr2 -P HL2270DW -pt A4
although undocumented, I was able to run this command
sudo /usr/local/Brother/Printer/HL2270DW/inf/brprintconflsr3 -P HL2270DW
-pt A4
however it didn't help, of course I restored the default renderer before
trying it
so at the moment only the pdftops renderer helps

I'm experiencing a problem like that with my Brother HL-2270DW in Ubuntu

I was affected as well but after I upgraded with the software from xorg-
