Turning off the grab in gksu might help. Here is the command to enter into the
terminal:
gconftool-2 -s /apps/gksu/disable-grab -t bool true
This might however have an impact on the security of the system.

debian.tar.gz supplied: New upstream
unity-greeter 12.10.4-0ubuntu3 seems to have fixed the issue: I logged
out and in several times, and even restarted the computer three times
without the issue appearing again. However, as the problem did not occur
on every login, I cannot tell for sure whether it is really fixed.
I am marking
Unity-greeter 12.10.4-0ubuntu1 is now available in the repository and
after installing it, the problem is still occurring here (after shutting
down and restarting the computer).
Could anybody else please confirm that it still is an issue that also
happens on their system?

Hi,
Ubuntu quantal is using Onboard as default onscreen keyboard on the
desktop and on the LiveCD.
As you can see, Quantal is shipping version 0.98.0 of Onboard, which is now
based on python3-virtkey instead of python-virtkey:

This package is not based on the current 0.97.1-0ubuntu2 from quantal
because version 0.98.0 of Onboard does not come from the 0.97 branch,
but is a new release from trunk. Version 0.98.0 however includes most
(if not all) changes that went into Onboard 0.97.1.

The mousetweaks typo is fixed now. I simply replaced the files attached
with the fixed version without increasing any version numbering as the
version with the typo was not yet uploaded to the ubuntu repositories. I
hope that it is ok that way.
