The /usr/share/gnome/default.session file specifies --sm-client-id
default0 for gnome-wm, but metacity doesn't seem to like getting passed
a non-existent ID. gnome-session used to automatically save the session,
and from a saved session this error doesn't happen.
But it begs the question: what
This still occurs in Feisty, user Euphro and I see it as well. I have a

So I saw in a similar bug here that the apt.preferences might be a
problem. I saw that I had added a restriction to feisty a while ago
(probably picking up some future package version that I forget now).
Removing this file and rerunning the update-manager worked great.

There are a number of likely duplicates, but from the apt logs, this
does seem like a different problem. This computer has been upgraded
since at least Breezy. I'll attach the needed logs in a second, but I
don't see any errors.

I don't know where that upgrade-system came from. This problem can be
seen during the install, after the partioner has been told to start, but
wants to confirm with the user that it's OK. I don't know what Ubuntu's
internal names for their installer components are, and I can't get a

I don't know where that came from. This problem can be seen in the
Install partitioner. I don't know what Ubuntu's internal names for
their installer components are, and I can't get a list to try to change
this hint.

Public bug reported:
Two things that bugged me when doing the Edgy Eft install. One is that
when trying to create a new partition from my existing Dapper partition,
the installer insisted on calling the to-be-created partition Partition

It adds lots of cool ACPI stuff for a variety of laptops, including the
HP Omnibooks, but also all Toshibas with Phoenix BIOS and HP Pavilions.

Really.
I have a Toshiba Satellite M25XS149 and it seems to me that the battery
detection worked great in Breezy, but I don't totally remember. But for
a few months it hasn't worked. I discovered that it would work if I
