This tool was essential for my work, so when it stopped working, and I couldn't find anything similar, I created my own version. It's still alpha and somewhat buggy, but it gets the job done and I use it every day. Feel free to try it out, and (if you're good with Python and GTK) please help me

There was a workaround for this bug in Ubuntu prior to 13.04, since systray icons could be whitelisted in dconf-editor. However, in Ubuntu 13.04 (raring ringtail), the ability to whitelist systray icons is removed (http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2013/02/raring-retires-system-tray- whitelist ). Is

[Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.

2013-01-20 Thread Fredde
For me, it's definitely compiz/unity that causes this. I Installed xfce- desktop and run it fo a few days, no freezes whatsoever. Then I enabled window decoration, moving windows and the other usual compiz-effect, and the problems reappered after some hours of use. I disabled the compiz-effects

I would like to add that it this hasn't happened once since I switched to Unity 2D last week (see #18). I agree with those who find it remarkable that the Ubuntu developers with their usually prompt bugfixes can leave a bug like this unassigned for this long. It must affect thousands of people
